It is unfortunate that most of Scientific community is unaware that "Decimally divided units, symbols & Quantities" are not necessarily Metric, if not in relation with the length unit 'METRE' - difference science has "never" made clear.

By New York Times going 'metric' - the only advantage I see is that 'Think Metric' wave need be understood - Not As Decimal Division' of units & quantities BUT also related to METRE, which must be understood to avoid the confusion among ladies & their tiny-tots wanting their parents to help them teach Metric.
