Epacts for 896-year Cycle

Dear Brij and Calendar People

 

I think Brij wants to take advantage the fact that his 896-year cycle (of 896*365.2421875 days = 32757 days = 46751 weeks) is near a whole number (11082) lunar months, even though the difference of about 1 day. I recall suggesting an epact idea to him for a 896-year cycle, which he seemed to like. The mean lunar month is about 29.5305887 days.

 

The epact of the year can be defined by the following formula

 

E(Y+1) = ( E(1) + 11*Y + floor([Y mod 128]/19) + 6*floor(Y/128) + floor(Y/896) ) mod 30

 

The epacts follow a 19-year cycle within each 128-year cycle.

 

If E(1) = 0, then the epacts would begin as follows:

to be sure you understand epacts.

The epacts I suggested would be applied to a leap-day calendar with a  128-year cycle with 31 leap years.
